The much orchestrated inauguration of a man who walked into Nigeria’s Apex office through the process of deception called “Election,” in a deceptive cloak of “subterfuge,” has finally come to be by hook and crook.
A day in the history of a country called Nigeria in sub-Saharan Africa, where transparence, equity, justice, and fairness are compromised by those that supposed to protect it, rather crucified it on the altar of injustice. This is truism and should not be part of this post.
Yes, deep down the hearts of the celebrating Cozens – Messiers Muhammadu Buhari, and Yemi Osinbajo is this bothering thoughts “We are deluding these crowd of witnesses with a stolen Presidential mandate.” They knew that they are celebrating electoral victory not well defined.
A man of integrity as the followers of Buhari has ascribed to him, must guide against doing things with schism, this is the true test of integrity.
They knew that the mood of celebration and acceptance of their leadership by Nigerians countrywide today is nothing but a ruse and a shadow of what Nigerians had on 29th May 2015.
Because they witnessed all the unprecedented electoral manipulations garnished with massive disenfranchisement of non-supporters of Buhari by military intimidators and hostility unleashed on innocent Nigerians in the Presidential elections organized by Buhari’s INEC chairman, Mr Mahmood Yakubu on 23rd February 2019.
This again, is truism and should not be part of this post.
My major concern on Buhari/Osinbajo’s inauguration today is not the ceremony ongoing on Nigeria’s Eagles Square, Abuja, No! Not at all.
Not the presence of crème de la crème, and people from all works of life across the globe that would grace the inauguration.
Not even taking a ruse oath of office and allegiance, declarations of Buhari/Osinbajo’s Presidency by the Chief Justice Nigeria that matters, because it is the normal routine and hence, nothing to celebrate in it.
Howbeit, my concern as I have often alleged, is the dividing of dates and equalization of celebrations between May 29, referred as “Democracy Day” in Nigeria, which, Buhari delusively changed to “Handover Day,” and June 12, as “Democracy Day.”
A cursory study has shown that “Handover Day” May 29, is weightier than mere “Democracy Day” June 12 because in no particular order, leadership baton, oath of office and allegiance, declaration of President and Commander-In-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, inspection of guard of honour, signing of necessary documents, lowering of flags and replaced with new one, et al could have been Conferred on Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola of blessed memory, on June 12, 1993.
Unfortunately, the Southwest Yorubas accepted to settle with Buhari’s crumbs, and began to chase shadows at the expense of the substance, with Buhari reaping from the farm he once detested and set ablaze – 1983 military coup on mind. This is worrisome.
Of course, truth is bitter, the feeble-minded amongst the Yorubas would not see anything reasonable on this post, rather ‘Insinuation’ but I am not perturbed because I am committed to this truth, and it must be told whenever and wherever it is lacking irrespective of whose ox is gored.
Before I forget, the inauguration ceremony ongoing on Eagles Square Abuja, Nigeria capital, has not changed from what an average Nigerian above 18 years in 1999, knows about.
We know the procedures, President Olusegun Obasanjo did it twice, President Musa Yar’Adua of blessed memory did it, President Goodluck Jonathan did it, and President Muhammadu Buhari did it in 2015.
The procedure remained the same, these are the things the likes of Onyesarah would watch out for today, 29/05/2019.
If at the end of this inauguration Buhari did not skip vital parts of the inauguration for June 12, Democracy Day celebration, I have no apology to say that Buhari has succeeded to subterfuge the entire Yoruba nation.
